A Big Welcome to IBBY Cambodia!

Ibby Ireland would like to welcome and congratulate IBBY Cambodia - the newest section to join the IBBY International family!
IBBY Cambodia was established by a small group of members from NGOs - SIPAR, SVA (Shani Volunteer Association), Room To Read, Damrei Sar, Tam Tam – publishers (Reading Book, Comic Art, Boeng Tonle Sap) as well as a representative from UNESCO. IBBY Sweden kindly support the membership of IBBY Cambodia.
IBBY Cambodia’s goal is to promote writing, illustration, and publishing for young people in Cambodia. In order to fulfill this goal, IBBY Cambodia is committed to the following activities:
- to provide support to individuals and organizations working in the area of children’s books, education and other relevant fields.
- to promote the exchange of relevant expertise and knowledge relating to children’s books at a national and international level.
- to encourage the development of links between Cambodia and other countries in the area of children’s books.
- Create a database of publications for children, and contact details of writers, illustrators, editors and publishers.
- Organise a round table discussion for sharing of experiences in children's book production, publishing, distribution and retailing as well as reading promotion in Cambodia.
- Organise a book fair to promote books and reading
- Organise the first competition of authors and illustrators in Cambodia for IBBY Honour List nominations
IBBY Cambodia's main activities in 2011 and 2012:
Create a database of publications for children, and contact details of writers, illustrators, editors and publishers.
Organise a round table discussion for sharing of experiences in children's book production, publishing, distribution and retailing as well as reading promotion in Cambodia.
Organise a book fair to promote books and reading
Organise the first competition of authors and illustrators in Cambodia for IBBY Honour List nominations
